The Family Child Care Program (FCC) provides child care services
for eligible active duty, civilians, reservists, and base contractors. FCC homes
operate Monday through Sunday at varying hours to meet work schedules.
The benefits of using a licensed child care provider as well as
becoming one is rewarding. Individuals desiring to become a licensed provider
have the opportunity to stay at home with their children while earning an
additional income. Providers receive training in child development, behavior
modification techniques, nutrition, CPR, and first aid. The FCC program provides
a lending library, which offers a wide variety of toys, furniture, books, and
equipment to operate an FCC home.
Parents choosing licensed family child care have the confidence
of knowing the provider has been properly trained in CPR, first aid, safety, and
food handling, and is continually monitored. The FCC coordinator, fire
department, Safety Office, and Military Public Health regularly inspect homes.
Another benefit of using the FCC program is that sibling groups can remain
together in a relaxed family setting with individual attention. It's also
convenient!
A list of FCC licensed child care providers is published in the
monthly "Family Matters" newsletter. Contact the FCC office about extended child
care, programs for PCS, volunteering, extended duty, and returning from
deployment.
