The Human Resources Office is responsible for and administers the Nonappropriated Funds (NAF) Personnel Management Program. Human Resources provides job information for NAF applicants and guidance on personnel matters to employees and supervisors. Employment Preference Programs

NAF Military Spouse Preference

Eligibility requirements:

  1. Be married to a military sponsor prior to receipt of official PCS orders, or be married before the transfer of PCS location.

  2. Be among the best qualified candidates for the vacancy.

Required documents:

  1. Applications for NAF employment

  2. Copy of sponsor's PCS orders

  3. Marriage certificate/license (if not named on PCS orders)

NOTE: Spouses may exercise employment preference once for each permanent relocation of the military sponsor. Spouse preference eligibility is terminated upon placement or declination (whichever comes first) of a position (APF or NAF) for which application is made. See AFMAN 34-310, Para 3.9 for details.

Transition Hiring Preference (THP)

Eligibility requirements:

  1. Possess a transition assistance identification card

  2. Be fully qualified

NOTE: A person may receive THP in hiring only once. See AFMAN 34-310, Para 3.10 for details.

Veterans' Preference

Eligibility requirements:

You are eligible for veterans' preference:
 
IF you are a former member of the Armed Forces who served on active duty for more than 180 consecutive days, other than for training, any part of which occurred between 1 Feb 55 and 14 Oct 76
OR began active duty after 14 Oct 76 and before 8 Sep 80 and served in a campaign or expedition for which campaign badge is authorized
OR enlisted in the Armed Forces after 8 Sep 80 or entered on active duty through means other than enlistment after 14 Oct 82 and served in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge is authorized and completed 24 months of continuous service or the full period for which called to active duty or were discharged early under 10 U.S.C. 2272 or for hardship under 10 U.S.C. 1173
OR if you were separated under honorable conditions and were awarded the Purple Heart
OR have a service-connected disability
OR if you are the unmarried widow/widower or mother of a deceased veteran or the spouse or mother of a disabled veteran, provided the preference is not being used by the veteran
OR if you are a Gulf War veteran, including reservists, who served on active duty from 2 Aug 90 to 2 Jan 92
OR if you are a recipient of the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (AFEM) for service in Operation Joint Endeavor and Operation Joint Guard in the republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
